The Foundation for B.Ed. TESL program offers a well-rounded curriculum that aligns with the diverse needs of students, equipping them with essential knowledge and skills for further studies and future careers in TESL. The program places a strategic emphasis on pedagogical foundations and communicative competence, ensuring graduates possess the confidence to excel in global educational environments:

  • Core English Language Proficiency:
    Courses such as Foundation English, Basic English Grammar, and Intermediate English Grammar develop students’ proficiency in English, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, and accuracy in communication.
  • Developing Communication Skills:
    Students enhance their ability to communicate effectively through Listening & Speaking Skills, Public Speaking & Presentation Skills, and Language Arts, fostering confidence in both formal and creative contexts.
  • Foundational Writing and Academic Skills:
    Through courses like Basic Writing Skills and Academic Writing Skills, students build their ability to organize ideas, write with clarity, and meet academic expectations.
  • Understanding Language and Learning:
    Courses such as Introduction to Phonology, Critical Thinking Skills, and Second Language Learning Styles & Strategies provide insights into how language works and how it is learned, helping students understand key concepts in linguistics and learner strategies.
  • Exploring Literature and TESL Principles:
    Introduction to Literature in English and Principles of ESL offer a foundation in literary appreciation and teaching methodologies, inspiring students to think critically about texts and instructional techniques.

This program provides a comprehensive curriculum that includes essential foundation courses, English language skills development, introductory education principles, and basic teaching methodologies. This structure ensures students receive a well-rounded preparation, focusing on language proficiency, foundational linguistic concepts, and an introduction to effective teaching practices.

To graduate, students need to complete 50 credit hours with a minimum CGPA 2.00.

  • Our program is accessible to a wide range of applicants, with various pathways for admission:

    • Passed SPM/O-Level with a minimum of 5 credits in any subjects including English with at least grade B; OR
    • Passed UEC with at least Grade B in any 3 subjects including English; OR
      Any other equivalent qualification recognized by Malaysia Government.

Upon completing the Foundation for B.Ed TESL program, students will be able to:
